Promontory Apartments is a 22 story 122 unit apartment building on Lake Michigan in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago close to the Museum of Science and Industry and the University of Chicago campus. The Promontory Apartments was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and built by Herbert Greenwald in 1949. Located on the lakefront, the Promontory Apartments has sweeping views of Lake Michigan and Promontory Point. The building features a modernist rectilinear structure with carefully proportioned interior spaces.
